PRIVACY POLICY
I’m CR Chandler, and this is my privacy policy. Most of these types of policies run to five or more pages with lots of very formal, legal-type language, but I’ve chosen to make mine much simpler and shorter. Why? Because I don’t think anyone reads those policies. I certainly don’t.
So what kind of information is gathered? Exactly what you see on the subscription form: your name and email address. Who is sent this information? To me, and to the company who maintains my email list, which is Convert Kit.
In a nutshell, when you use this site or sign up for the newsletter (and free book), then you agree to this privacy policy.
Aside from your name and email address, which is personal information, I could also gather non-personal information, which doesn’t have your personal information (that would be your name and email) attached to it. Things like information on the device you are using to access the site, or how many times you’ve been to the site. I certainly don’t do anything to help gather the non-personal information, but Convert Kit might. And I don’t even know how to access it, so I won’t be doing anything with it.
As for Convert Kit, signing up for the newsletter means you also agree to their privacy policy. If you would like to read the whole thing, here is the link: https://kit.com/privacy. The most important paragraph in their policy is this one:
-
b. Use and Transfer of Data. Consistent with this Privacy Policy, we may transfer Customer or Subscriber Personal Data to entities that help us promote, provide, or support our Services or the services of our Customers (“Service Providers”). All Service Providers agree to protect Personal Data in accordance with this Privacy Policy. We will never sell, rent, or lease Customers’ Distribution Lists.
It’s important to know they won’t sell, rent, lease, or otherwise give away your information to someone else for their marketing purposes.
This site might also use cookies to enhance its performance. You can disable them, but then the site wouldn’t work very well.
Most policies have a long explanation of privacy for their affiliate links (the ones where you press a button to buy something, and the person who owns the site where you pressed that button gets a small payment from the person/company you bought something from). However, I’m not an affiliate with anyone else or any other company, so when you press the “buy” buttons on this site, all I get is the money I get paid for the book itself—as the author, not as an affiliate.
The only “legalese” piece that is necessary is this one:
By using the site, you are declaring that you are at least eighteen years old, and by accessing the site, you accept the Privacy Policy and Terms of Use, and you consent to the collection, storage, use and disclosure of your personal information as described in this Privacy Policy. In addition, by using this site or services across partnered and unaffiliated sites, you are accepting the policies and practices described in this Privacy Policy. Each time you visit this website, and any time you voluntarily provide us with information, you agree that you are consenting to the collection, use and disclosure of the information that you provide, and you are consenting to receive emails or otherwise be contacted. Whether or not you register or create any kind of account with us, this Privacy Policy applies to all users of the website and its services
Lastly, I of course have access to the email list, which will include your personal information if you subscribed to it. I will never sell, release, lease or otherwise disclose your information to any entity that is not a direct service provider for my author business and needs it in order to promote my business and only for my business.
That about covers it!
